From Washington- Stress may lead to gum and periodontal disease. Researchers have noted that 57% of studies found an association between stress or anxiety and periodontal disease. The link is believed to be related to increased levels of cortisol that is released during times of stress. Cortisol can dampen the immune system and negatively affect the gums and bone.
